A Fine Brescian Flintlock Pistol by Antonio Venasolo, Circa 1665

Barrel with reeded octagonal breech signed Domenico Bonomino, beveled flat lock with stepped tail
drawn out to a chiseled monster’s head, signed Antonio Venasolo along the bottom edge, the frizzen with internal spring, 
the cock decorated with pierced engraved scrolling foliage and retained by a flowerhead screw, highly 
figured burl-walnut full stock carved with a decorative molding behind the ramrod channel, inlaid with iron
plaques finely pierced and engraved with scrolling foliage and delicate tendrils, iron mounts pierced and chiseled en suite,
comprising domed pommel pierced and engraved with hounds chasing a stag, all within scrolling foliage, trigger guard bow with a wavy profile, finely chiseled 
and pierced, and the trigger pierced with a floral pattern, the iron tipped ramrod is most probably original, the belt hook is wanting.
 
Fine condition overall, but for a few period repairs to the fore-end, quite ordinary with burl-walnut stocks.
